The Palazzo Lanfranchi Museum reopens with a new visitor experience
Published on November 14, 2025
After extensive restoration work, the National Museum of Medieval and Modern Art of Basilicata, housed in the 17th-century Palazzo Lanfranchi, reopened to the public with an official inauguration ceremony on October 15.
The restoration work involved both the exterior and interior of the palace, with a focus on accessibility to the artworks. The exhibition features three new multimedia rooms.
The first room, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, will allow for immersive interaction with Carlo Levi's paintings, the second will offer a multisensory experience of the works in the Camillo d'Errico Collection, while the last room, dedicated to Luigi Guerricchio, explores his biography and his links with the Matera area.
